Travel Program The travel program of LBC provides competitive teams for boys and girls grades 3rd-8th. The 3rd and 4th grade levels are combined to provide one team for the girls and one team for the boys. The 5th and 6th grade levels can consist of several teams for both the girls and boys. Participation on these teams requires a strong commitment from the player and the family. Tryouts are held in September and the season runs from October through the end of March. Teams participate in the Manchester Suburban League with representatives from other towns in New Hampshire. The game schedule consists of approximately 20 regular season games and playoffs. Each team usually participates in 3-4 tournaments, which could add another 10-15 games. Practices are held 1-2 times per week during the season. Children that participate in the travel program need to make this their first choice of sport. Tryouts for the 3rd - 6th grades are held around 3rd week of September to the middle of October and advertised in the local newspapers, on this web site and flyers are handed out in the schools. The 7th and 8th grade tryouts are not until after the Middle school tryouts, which is usually around the middle of November and will be advertised on the web site. LBC hosts a March Madness Tournament at the end of March which all parents are required to volunteer their time to help run. This is our major fundraiser that keeps the cost down for both the travel and recreation programs. It is the hope of the travel program to provide a solid fundamental understanding of the game of basketball. Our overall goal continues to be to stress sportsmanship, teamwork and enjoyment but at a competitive level.
Note: Players must be a Londonderry resident to tryout. This is tryouts for the travel part of the Londonderry Basketball program. There will be signups for the Recreational part of the program that will take place toward the end of October. Travel basketball is a commitment of 3 or more days a week as opposed to Recreational ball which is held on Saturdays. To be considered for a team participation in at least 2 of the 3 tryouts is required. Players are encouraged to attend all 3 tryouts for their age group.
